Papa goes to Melbourne

Papa is off to Melbourne for 10 days without Mummy and me. How sad! Wished we could go too. Papa said we plan for another one next time.

Look at me! That's my latest way of smiling. Mummy does not think it looks too good. Needs improvement she said. Is that what you think too?

Saturdays

I love Saturdays because it's the day Mummy doesn't have to go to work. Yay! (I'm sure Mummy says that too...).

Weekends always so precious and we are always busy with things to do. But Mummy will always try to take Junior and me down for a morning walk, and we will also swing by the playground after Junior has his share of pee and poo.

And oh... whenever I am down, I enjoy ant-watching. There are the big ones and the small ones. There are always so many of them scurrying everyone. Wonder what they are up to? Where they are going. I will always describe what the ants are doing. Mummy is fond of asking me if I think the ants are 'cute'. I'm never able to give Mummy a definite answer... probably because I can't decide whether they are or not.

All about the "Pee" and "Poo"!

Make a guess what this is...

Well, this fancy-looking chair is my potty! Interesting huh.. Once I lift up the lid on the seat, I can pee or poo into it.

This was how it started...
Mummy and Daddy fretted quite a bit over my resistance to potty training. Efforts to introduce me to potty training started as early as when I was close to 24 months old (2 years). Mummy and Daddy thought I was kinda ready since I was able to say Ariel pee pee and Ariel poo poo. Stubborn me! I refused to co-operate. Whenever Mummy encouraged me to sit on the round (non-fanciful type) potty, I would always give lots of excuses like "Ariel bathe first." "Ariel sit later okay"... or I would throw a tantrum to show my displeasure. Sighs... the adults were helpless and decided to take it easy and go slow on the training.
After I turned 2, Mummy and Daddy decided it was time to go full force (Mummy was also pressured because one of my GUG classmates, she was already toilet-trained!). So they bought me training pants (hoping that I would feel uncomfy peeing into it and it would motivate me to use the potty) and they scouted around for a nice-looking potty. We went to several Mothercare outlets (those were were expensive - $70!!, so they decided not to take the risk in case I refuse to use it) and finally at Kiddy Palace, they saw the one in the picture. Mummy and Daddy asked me to choose from a few and I told them that I liked this too.
Phew! I was true to my words... I was excited to sit on it the moment I came home. Mummy and Daddy were worried that I would be aversed to the word "potty" (as from earlier experiences, whenever the word "potty" was called out, I would protest) told me this was called "Ariel's Toilet Chair". Well, kinda worked!

For a few days, I was not given the diaper. So Grandma and Mummy kept reminding when it was time to pee. Many "accidents" took place as I was wet puddles of water on the floor. oops!

A few days later, I suddenly remembered I had this DVD which I watched since my baby days called "Elmo goes potty". That was the turning point. I modelled after Elmo in the show and I pee-ed into the chair. When I announced proudly to Mummy "Mummy, Ariel pee-pee!" Mummy at first thought I was pulling her leg. Haha! When she realised it was for real, everyone was overjoyed by my accomplishment! They clapped and hugged and kissed me. Wow, so much for pee-ing. Indeed a milestone worth celebrating. As a reward, I was given an ice-cream!
Within 1 week since we bought the chair, I have been making steady improvements. The latest... I was able to pull down my own panty, say to Mummy and Grandma that Ariel wants to pee and poo.. and reach out for my toilet chair or say I want to go to the toilet.

BRAVO to ARIEL!

Crazy things I do at home

To keep myself occupied at home, I do all sorts of crazy things. One example... watch the video. I styled my hair with stickers and started singing in front of the mirror.

It's National Day!

Happy 45th Birthday, Singapore!

I made 2 flags in the sunday school class.

See, the biggest flag on the left... I made that in school!

I am ready to celebrate National Day! The entire family joined in the celebrations at the heartland - Choa Chu Kang. There was live perfomances, fireworks and display of the mobile columns. Wow!

To everyone's surprise and delight, I sang "Happy Birthday to Singapore, Happy Birthday to Singapore!"

Two shots with Mummy because it was so difficult to get me to smile a nice smile.

Doggie sitting

Daddy had to doggie-sit these 2 Chow Chows for his friend. He brought both Mummy and me along and wow, they are so big and strong and they have purplish tongues! Really different from our lil' Junior. Mummy was so afraid that they might knocked me over in their excitement, so refused to let me down. Definitely adorable!

She is called "Mao"

And this beary looking one is called "Xiong"

Barney rides

Barney rides never fail to bring a smile to me face. Now that I am slightly older, I'm able to appreciate these rides even better. After class at GUG, I will always ask to go take a ride. And by now, I know the "I love you" song by heart.

Ariel says...

I'm turning 26 month old and able to string sentences of words. Some of my latest words that are commonly found in my sentences - "because", "see", "how", "yet", "also", "what happened?"

Mommy collected some my anecdotes.

See, Ariel clever, Ariel know how to on TV."

Bye Melaka, Home Sweet Home

Day 3 - Tiime to go home. We took it slow that Sunday before heading for home.

Down at Jonker Street, Daddy bought me this HUGE lollipop. I was thrilled! There were so many other tiny lollipops inside. In fact, I couldn't finish all these lollies and shared them with my classmates...

After breakfast, we planned on going swimming.... but weather took a turn for the worse. I was undressed and about to change into my swimsuit when Daddy pointed out that the rain had come in strong and hard. Too bad...

We checked out from the hotel and headed out for lunch. Where to - OldTown White Coffee. Daddy ordered some kaya toast and to everyone's surprise, I took a liking to the toasted bread. Mummy ordered Shredded Chicken Noodle to share with me.. and guess what during this trip, Mummy realised she had ordered noodles for every meal! That's because Ms Ariel loves noodles...

Some photos taken before the foodie came...

Melaka - Day 2

What's for Day 2? Lots of walking for the entire day. We walked everywhere till our legs ached. Mummy and Daddy wished they could go for a massage, but with me around... hmm... not quite possible.

After breakfast, we visited the swimming pool at the hotel. Then we took a walk at the jetty right next to our hotel.

We also took a stroll around ChristChurch. We saw lots of colourfully decorated trishaws. Nope, we didn't sit on any.

I played at the local playground. A bit different from what we have in Singapore. Well, Mummy and Daddy said the playground looked like what they played on during their kiddy years
And of course, a holiday is never complete without SHOPPING! We shopped at their malls and bought slippers (for me), shoes (for Mummy), luggage (for Daddy) and many more... I set in the car stroller and had a really nice time in there.
For 2 days in a row, we had A & W. Well Mummy and Daddy were thrilled at the sight. No longer can it be found in Singapore, it is a good to savour the root-bear float and ice-cream waffle, especially after a long and hot day out walking in the sun. For a first-timer, I fell in love with it too. Yummz!
